Podcast: Financing the Future, from Belém to the World
10 NOVEMBER, 2025
As momentum builds for COP30 in Belém, Marcos Neto, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, joined journalist Lindsey Hall on S&P Global’s All Things Sustainable podcast to discuss how sustainable finance can bridge climate, nature and development goals.
Recorded in São Paulo during PRI in Person, the conversation explores how countries are building stronger financial systems that direct investment where it is needed most—creating long-term value for people and planet.
The discussion reflected on the growing convergence between global climate and development agendas, with Neto stating: “I think this is the COP where we’re starting to see the connections between climate, biodiversity and development come together.”
For him, the topic is also personal. Belém, his hometown, will host COP30. It is a reminder, he said, that financing the future is already taking shape in the places that will define how the world responds to climate change.
