Biodiversity finance
UNDP works to integrate biodiversity considerations into various sectors, promoting sustainable practices and reducing negative impacts on biodiversity. Our efforts focus on three key areas:
- Strengthening Governance Frameworks at the landscape level,
- Supporting Market Transformations, and
- Fast-tracking National Biodiversity Strategy-Setting and Implementation.
Present in 41 countries, BIOFIN works with governments, civil society, communities and the private sector to catalyse investments in nature.
Finance solutions for biodiversity include:

- Debt (green bonds)
- Fiscal subsidies
- Market-led approaches
- Regulatory reform
- Risk management (public guarantees for green investments)
