About us
UNDP Africa Sustainable Finance Hub (ASFH) promotes South-South Cooperation and financing for sustainable development across African countries, particularly the development and implementation of Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFF). Utilizing tools designed to transform financing systems, ASFH harnesses the potential of sustainable finance solutions to realize Africa’s sustainable development objectives.
In strengthening regional- and country-level finance ecosystems, ASFH is working to unlock public and private capital to accelerate the SDGs and the African Union Agenda 2063 which is Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future.
This includes:
- Implementing Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs)
- Aligning foreign direct and domestic investments with the SDGs and climate action
- Creating enabling environments for the private sector to channel finance towards small businesses and young entrepreneurs
- Enhancing carbon market access and energy financing to lower carbon emissions
Our Work
Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF)
ASFH’s Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF team supports African governments to mobilise and align public and private financing for their sustainable development priorities. We support Development Finance Assessments and establishment of integrated financing strategies, enhancing domestic resource mobilisation, and developing innovative financing mechanisms.
SDG Investments
ASFH uses proven tools designed to inform and transform financial systems, and build sustainable and resilient economies. We focus on improving access to finance for MSMEs.
SDG Investor Maps provide market intelligence in emerging markets aligned to national development needs and government policy priorities and provide investor momentum.
SDG Impact Standards are voluntary management standards designed to guide businesses and investors on their sustainability journeys and engagement with financial institutions on SDG and climate aligned frameworks.
Private Sector development, engagement and financing
ASFH provides a toolkit of advisory services, impact driven products, and proven field solutions to meet the demands and core needs of private sector companies, working in close collaboration with UNDP Country Offices and interested development partners.
- Promote innovative business and financing models for MSMEs and Entrepreneurship development and finance.
- Support informal enterprises transition towards sustainable growth and formalization.
- Support the development of green business and financing including in resilient and sustainable food value chains

Carbon markets
ASFH partners with specialized institutions to enhance the capacity of African governments in generating data on emissions thereby improving countries’ access to carbon markets and energy financing.
