Making Markets Work for the SDGs: UNDP's Private Sector Development and Partnerships Strategy 2023-2025

02 October, 2023

The Private Sector Strategy continues to build on the progress of the last four years and is aligned with UNDP’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and six signature solutions:

  • poverty and inequality,
  • governance,
  • resilience,
  • environment,
  • energy, and
  • gender equality

This Private Sector Strategy draws on assessments, evaluations, and on the lessons learnt from the previous period (2018-2022). Over the next 3 years, it will seek to make markets work for three of the four UNDP Strategic Plan moonshots by:

  • Helping 100 million people to escape multidimensional poverty;
  • Supporting 500 million people to gain access to clean energy; and
  • Promoting over US$1 trillion of public expenditure and private capital investment in the SDGs.
