4th Financing for Development Conference 2nd Preparatory Committee Session
Event Details
The Second Session of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 3 to 6 December 2024. FfD4 is a once in a decade opportunity to support reforming the international financial architecture and financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Session will provide a platform to reflect on the elements paper, which is based on Member States and other stakeholders' inputs and puts forward potential elements of the Outcome Document of the Conference.

TUESDAY 3 December 2024 | |||
1:15 – 2:30 pm ET | Financing for development: Fostering collaboration between finance institutions and development institutions | Room S15-22, UN Headquarters, New York and online | Co-hosted by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and UNDP, this side event aims to foster dialogue and further collaboration between finance institutions and development institutions in forging a way forward on jointly addressing the constraints for mobilising financing for sustainable development. The event brings together governments, multilateral development banks, international financial institutions and development institutions to find ways to deepen their integration through the FfD4 outcome. 3:00 – 5:00 pm ET | Sustainable finance governance: The role of FfD4 in advancing effective policy measures to align finance with sustainability | Room S15-19, UN Headquarters, New York and online | This side event will address fragmentation in sustainable finance alignment approaches by strengthening cooperation and improving governance of interoperability. The speakers include Ministers of Finance and Environment, IFIs, the private sector and CSOs. |
3:00 – 5:00 pm ET | Enhancing fiscal policy coherence: Data and statistical frameworks and institutional collaborations | Conference Room A, UN Secretariat, New York and online | This side event offers an opportunity to examine how data and statistics can strengthen the development impact of public finance. Key stakeholders will share experiences of working together to improve fiscal policies and their outcomes. The exchange will explore how different forms of collaboration can help countries make better use of public resources, strengthen social contracts, and accelerate progress toward the SDGs through improved data and analytical capabilities. WEDNESDAY 4 December 2024 | |||
1:15 – 2:30 pm ET | Scaling MDB support for sovereign financing priorities: Integrated national financing frameworks and country platforms | Conference Room 9, UN Headquarters, New York & online | This side event will bring together governments, financial institutions, including multilateral development banks (MDBs) and development organizations to explore how INFFs and country platforms can work in synergy to address financing challenges at the national level, contributing to an ambitious FfD4 outcome.
