UNDP and Asian development bank strengthening cooperation

15 JULY, 2022

On 13 June, UNDP’s Financial Institutions Team and the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) North American Representation Office cohosted a joint roundtable discussion on “Rising to the Challenge: Aligning Financing with the Sustainable Development Goals” in Washington, DC. With in-person participation under Chatham House Rules from partners including IFIs/DFIs (World Bank, IFC, IMF, EIB, IDB Invest, US-DFC), government representatives (US, Indonesia, Australia) and research/policy partners (Brookings, Center for Global Development, World Resources Institute), discussants agreed on the need to move from using the SDGs as a monitoring framework to SDGs as a financing framework, scale catalytic and coordinated technical support to countries, and further bringing country realities to global discussions to ensure global efforts reflect diverse country needs. UNDP aims to organize further discussions on these topics and identify cooperation and knowledge sharing opportunities.
