In 2024, the United Nations Development Programme’s Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF) advanced its mission to help countries better manage the financial risks that hinder sustainable development. Through targeted support across five key thematic areas – resilient countries and communities, resilient households, resilient businesses, resilient nature and resilient food systems – IRFF is working with partners to close protection gaps and enable long-term financial resilience. Operating across five regions with support from eight donors, the Facility collaborated with governments and the insurance industry to design innovative risk transfer and insurance solutions and working with governments to integrate risk management into public policies and enhance insurance regulations to create inclusive and effective insurance systems.
